SCALAN is built and hosted in Europe, fully GDPR-compliant. Your prompts, project data and organization settings are stored on European infrastructure. We do not use your data to train AI models. API keys for AI providers are managed by your organization and billed directly to you, therefore SCALAN has no access to the output of your AI calls. SCALAN's REST API lets you retrieve prompts programmatically: as resolved text with variables filled or fully executed with LLM output. This makes it straightforward to integrate prompt management into existing applications, agents or automation workflows. SCALAN acts as your prompt repository and governance layer. The actual AI calls run directly between your application and the AI provider using your own API keys. SCALAN never processes or stores AI-generated output.

SCALAN gives compliance, GRC and data protection teams the controls that are typically missing when generative AI spreads across an organization. You can define which AI models are approved for use, set role-based access so only authorized users can publish or edit prompts and maintain a full version history of every prompt change. This makes it possible to demonstrate to internal auditors or external regulators that your AI usage is controlled, documented, and auditable. For teams preparing for the EU AI Act or managing GDPR risks around generative AI, SCALAN provides the governance layer that policy documents alone cannot deliver.
